The Korean women’s volleyball team has been sweating it out at the Jincheon Athletic Center gym since June 6, and on Sunday, the team released a training video to the media.

Park and her teammates are preparing for the Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship, the Paris Olympic Qualifiers, and the Hangzhou Asian Games.

The team is in need of a rebound in the upcoming three tournaments after suffering humiliating defeats in the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) for the second consecutive year.

Park Jung-ah, in her second year as captain after inheriting the armband from ‘volleyball queen’ Kim Yeon-kyung (Heungkuk Life), has a heavier burden on her shoulders.

“It’s true that it’s a high-pressure position, but I’m doing my best because my teammates help me a lot,” she said.

“I’m trying to listen to their opinions first. There are a lot of young players, so I listen to their stories. We talk not only about sports but also about life. I keep my ears open,” he said, defining his leadership.

The team that rallied around Park didn’t perform as well as before, but the atmosphere wasn’t as bad.

“We had a meeting with the players, and we’re focused on making the top four at the first Asian Championships. We haven’t talked about the Asian Games (which will be the last) yet. The harder it is, the harder it is, so we’re going to take it one game at a time,” he explained.

Park, however, has her own personal preparations for the Asian Games. There have been many voices of disappointment and regret for the women’s volleyball team in recent years, and they need a medal.

“Of course, my goal is to win a medal,” Park said. We have a big desire to achieve, so if we set our goals correctly and fulfill them one by one, we will have a good result at the Asian Games. I will prepare to compete in the most perfect way possible,” she said.
