Toronto manager John Schneider praised Ryu Hyun-jin for his strong start.
Hyun-jin Ryu pitched five innings, striking out seven, walking four and giving up two runs (unearned) on four hits and one walk in his second straight win against Cincinnati at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati on April 21. His season ERA dropped from 2.57 to 1.89.메이저사이트
After the game, Schneider said, “Ryu did a good job with his fastball against righties. He capitalized on their aggressiveness. He pitched really well against their lineup. It was a really good game,” Schneider applauded.
On the day, Ryu’s fastball averaged 87.4 mph (about 141 kilometers). However, Schneider didn’t criticize his velocity, saying, “It was up to 90 mph.”
Instead, he praised Ryu’s pitches. “He had a really good curveball, a changeup, and a body fastball. It was typical of him. All of his pitches were good,” Schneider said.
“It was a really hot day, and I had to take him out in the fifth inning with the bases loaded,” Schneider said of the timing of his decision to remove Ryu after five innings (83 pitches).
