Veteran Italian midfielder Marco Verratti (31), a former teammate of Lee Kang-in, has left Paris Saint-Germain (France) to join Qatar’s Al Ahly in the Middle East.

There was no official statement from the club, but according to the BBC, Al Ahly paid PSG €45 million for Verratti.
Verratti, who joined PSG in 2012, has been at the peak of his powers over the past 11 years, helping PSG win multiple titles. The midfielder is not a large player at 165 centimeters, but he is very active in the midfield.
Since joining the club, he has won nine league titles, including the Ligue 1 title in 2012-13, and has lifted 30 trophies, including six Coupe de France titles.
Verratti, an Italian international, has been a top midfielder for PSG, helping them win Euro 2020.
However, he was dropped by Luis Enrique ahead of the 2023-24 season and ended up heading to Qatar. He was courted by Saudi clubs and several other clubs, but the high transfer fee prevented a move, and he ended up wearing the colors of Qatar Al Ahrabi.
“I am very proud to have worn the PSG shirt for more than a decade, winning 30 trophies with many great players,” Verratti said through the club, adding, “The Parisian club and its fans will always be in my heart. I am an eternal Parisian,” he said of the move.
Al Ahly, meanwhile, is the second-placed team in the Qatar Pro League for the 2022-23 season. The team is based in Doha, Qatar, and features the likes of Abdou Diallou. They have three draws in three games this season.
