The Korea University Table Tennis Championships is a ‘university championship’ where the strongest players are determined by their individual skills in individual and individual doubles matches without a team competition.

The tournament was divided into 16 groups, with the first and second place finishers in each group advancing to the round of 32.

Park entered the tournament as the second runner-up in her qualifying group and defeated Lee Ga-yeon of Gongju University in the round of 32, Nam Yoon-jung of Andong University in the round of 16, Jeong Ji-eun of Yongin University in the round of 8, and Baek Soo-jin of Gongju University in the round of 4 in a full-game battle to reach the final.

In the final, she defeated Yongin University’s Kim Yeon-hee to take the top spot.

Changwon National University also had a runner-up finish in the women’s individual doubles with the team of Park Heon-min (a fourth-year physical education major) and Park Ji-eun.

They lost 3-2 in the final to Incheon National University’s Lee Soo-yeon and Ong Chae-yeon.

In the men’s individual doubles, Kim Jin-taek (sophomore, Kinesiology) and Shin Seok-hyun (freshman, Kinesiology) reached the final, but lost 3-1 to Nam Gun-woo and Kwon Kang-min of Gunsan University.

Meanwhile, the KUTA will send the two players with the highest ranking scores in all five tournaments of the year to the 2023 International Championships in Poland from Nov. 1-8. Park Ji-eun is ranked No. 1 in the women’s collegiate division and will compete with Hannam University’s Lee Eun-joo (No. 2) under the Taeguk mark.
