‘One-man’ men’s volleyball team to leave for AG on 16th…first match against India on 20th

The South Korean men’s volleyball team is ready to take on the Asian Games in Hangzhou.

The team, led by head coach Lim Do-heon, will compete at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, from Sept. 19-26.

A total of 12 players will be sent to the Games. The most notable addition is veteran setter Han (Korean Air). Hwang Seung-bin (KB Insurance) competed in the Asian Championships last month and Kim Myung-kwan (Hyundai Capital) joined forces with Hwang Taek-ui (Armed Forces Athletic Corps) in the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Challenge Cup in July. Han was drafted by Korean Air in the second round of the 2007-2008 season. He established himself as a starter in the 2008-2009 season and became a franchise star. South Korea (ranked 27th in the world) will play India (73rd) on Tuesday and Cambodia (unranked) on Wednesday in Pool C of the Asian Games. The top two finishers in the group will advance to the round of 12. In the round of 12, the team will play for 1st-6th, 7th-12th, and then the ranking match and final, depending on the tournament results.

The team will depart for Hangzhou, China, the host city of the tournament, at 12:25 a.m. on Nov. 16 via Incheon International Airport with the Korea Beach Volleyball Team.
